One-to-One
Respiratory Physiotherapy

Is your chest causing you concern?

Whether you are struggling with clearing your chest, managing breathlessness, getting a satisfying breath or understanding your respiratory medicines , one-to-one respiratory physiotherapy at Esanella gives you focused, expert support built entirely around your condition and your goals.

Our wealth of NHS Respiratory experience allows us to provide expert, thorough assessment and personalised evidence-based treatment, delivered with the time and continuity that's often hard to find elsewhere.

How we can help

Assessment & Treatment Sessions

A thorough initial assessment gets to the root of what's happening with your breathing, your chest, or your condition and not just the symptoms on the surface. From there, sessions are built entirely around you, adapting as your needs change over time.

Airway Clearance Techniques

Effective, evidence-based techniques to help you clear your chest more easily, reduce infections, and breathe more comfortably day. Particularly valuable for conditions like Bronchiectasis and COPD where secretion clearance is key.

Individualised Breathing Retraining

We offer 1:1 breathing retraining for anyone has more complex needs or would prefer this to a class. It helps restore a more efficient, comfortable breathing pattern for people with  disordered or dysfunctional breathing and anxiety linked breathing issues.

Breathlessness Management

For progressive conditions like COPD and lung cancer, the goal isn't always to "fix" breathlessness but to manage it with confidence and control. You'll receive practical strategies to use in the moments breathlessness feels most overwhelming.

Exercise, Activity & Breathing

Breathlessness shouldn't mean giving up the activities that matter to you. We'll work on breathing strategies that support movement and exercise, helping you stay active safely and with less fear of breathlessness holding you back.

Understanding Respiratory Medications

Understanding your inhalers and respiratory medications including how and when to use them properly can make a real difference to their effectiveness. We'll make sure you feel confident and clear about your treatment, not just handed a device.

What to expect

Truly listening is at the heart of our ethos, your first session is a thorough assessment so we can understand your symptoms, your history, and how your breathing is affecting daily life. This allows us to ensure treatment is built entirely around you rather than a generic plan. You will receive a detailed report after your assessment and if you wish we can share our plan with your GP or other members of your healthcare team.

Assessment typically last 1 hour and 15 minutes with treatment and follow up sessions lasting 60 minutes. This can take place where it suits you best either a home visit across Cornwall, or a virtual appointment anywhere in the UK. Travel is included in our home visit pricing, and virtual appointments, which many clients find just as effective are also available.

The number of sessions needed varies from person to person, some notice real change within just a few, while others, particularly with progressive conditions, benefit from ongoing support. We will always be honest with you about what's realistic as we review progress frequently and together. Where possible we will signpost you to existing NHS services and we are happy to liaise with your GP on your behalf about onward referrals

All you need for your appointment is yourself, comfortable clothing, and any devices, inhalers or respiratory medication you use, so we can talk through them together.
